 Rooftop gardening becomes growingly popular in the people who love gardening. The land for gardening shrinks every day with construction of more and more new buildings.City’s gardeners and agriculturists, however, cite yet another reason why more house owners getting keen on having a patch of greenery on their roofs, which is, they want vegetables and fruits fresh and free from poisonous chemicals.We need to make people aware more about the potential of roof gardens. Population has been increasing day by day in the urban areas of many countries. Green areas have been shrinking to ensure the accommodation of mass population of the urban areas. As a result, Green House effect has been increasing resulting in climate change in the urban areas and everywhere. Rooftop is the only one open space for urban people. If urban people work on the rooftop for gardening that can ensure safe and fresh food, recreation, more oxygen, less carbon dioxide and Eco friendly green environment.



Rooftop gardening is a space utilization technique to produce vegetables, fruits and herbs in the open space in the roof of a building. It is a means to utilize invaluable sun light and available home-made organic inputs to harvest fresh and healthy food. Gardening in the rooftop can be an answer to the worsening city environment and can turn the ‘Urban Heat Island’ into a ‘Green Belt’ for city dwellers. Ensuring a space for gardening in the urban areas is so difficult but rooftop is the only open space with having more sunlight in the urban area. Rooftop gardening that assists to reduce overall heat absorption of the building as well as reducing energy consumption. It helps to ensure better quality of life by supplying chemical free fruits, vegetables and spices. It can also be a good scope to grow rare and unavailable vegetables. Pollution can also be reduced through maintaining the greenery. Rooftop garden is a source of Carbon sink, it helps to ensure cool environment and ensure the habitat of biodiversity. It also helps to mental recreation for the residents and increases the beauty of the building.
